Beware of Phishing Emails

Several of our distributors have received phishing emails recently with the subject line “Invoice Due from an account posing as a Protectowire Regional Marketing Manager. Phishing is a practice in which scammers send emails posing as someone else in an effort to obtain personal or company information. Here is an example of a fraudulent email:

Given that the objective is to obtain sensitive information, we ask that our distributors take precautions when reading fraudulent emails that may be sent as part of a phishing scam. A couple of ways in which phishing emails can be spotted are:

  • Watching for email senders that use suspicious or misleading domain names.
  • Forward any unusual emails to customer-service@protectowire.com in order to validate the authenticity of the message.
