Health, Safety and Environment

We are committed to producing products for our customers in a safe, responsible manner that respects the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the environment.  Individual products are listed and approved by Underwriters Laboratories and Factory Mutual Corporation for compliance and operator Safety.

We select processes and product materials to minimize impact on the environment.  For example, all of our Linear Heat Detector products are in compliance with the EU Directive Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electric and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) – Directive 2002/95/EC.  Our unique materials identification system allows for complete traceability of Protectowire Linear Heat Detector materials.

Engineering, Research and Development

Our specialized engineering and design talents are focused on a variety of system control such as intrinsically safe circuits, deluge valve actuation, auxiliary equipment shutdown, and remote function annunciation. Whatever the application, you can trust that we can provide a system to fit your needs.  R&D has produced Confirmed Temperature Initiation Technology (CTI), as discussed earlier, and have developed improved chemical and abrasion resistant jacket materials for our full line of Protectowire Linear products.

Training

The Protectowire Company trains system designers, distributors, and end users in the selection, specification, and installation of Protectowire special hazard fire detection systems and accessories. In-house seminar style training provides added assurance that Protectowire special hazard fire detection systems, as selected and installed, will meet codes and customer requirements.  Training seminars are part of the personalized technical services that our customers have come to expect and that set us above other manufacturers.

    John A. Whaling joined The Protectowire Co, Inc. in 1995. John came to the company with 17 years’ experience in the special hazards fire detection and suppression systems industry. Prior to joining Protectowire John was an Account Executive with a major manufacturer of fire detection and suppression systems whose products were marketed worldwide. Other positions held within the fire detection /suppression industry include that of Sales and Marketing Manager for a nationwide suppression systems distributor along with Division Manager for a national fire protection contractor.
